Sewa Kendra is a lean and efficient organization. A small team of two doctors (one leprosy-specialist and one dermatologist), four nurses including a senior nurse, one physio-technician, one lab technician, one admin officer, one driver-cum-store assistant, one house mother, and one clerk complete the list of its staff capabilities.
This small team has been managing a range of facilities and services in support of the leprosy-affected and destitute people to be described below. Occasionally, the organization also receives short-term services of visiting medical interns and nurses mainly from the West. For instance, Jill Mowbray, a senior staff nurse from UK worked in Sewa Kendra for five weeks in 2006. The following is excerpted from a letter that she wrote to her friends and made a copy available to Dr. H.M. Pradhan, the Executive and Medical Director of Sewa Kendra.
